How To Shoot 3 Pointers
Posted on | April 9, 2011 | Comments Off
Here I will discuss all the tips for improving your 3 point shooting that I learned playing basketball. It took me 3 or 4 years to understand basic things that answer the question how to shoot 3 pointers.
Your body
You probably have heard that proper shooting mechanics is very important. For example Ray Allen every time shoots a basketball with the same form. So it is important to develop your 3 point shooting form that you will use constantly in the game and practice. I think you should not exactly copy one or other player’s form but rather work on your current form and try to improve it.
When launching a 3-pointer there are few main body parts that more or less contribute to shooting form. You need to evaluate them to see if you can improve.

Nba.com even blocked comments on his video highlights maybe because they were all negative (notice in the screenshot below how it says no comments yet, but near the video text show that there were 7 comments left)

Weight Lifting For Basketball Players
Posted on | February 3, 2011 | Comments Off
There are many misconceptions that weight lifting isn’t the right thing for basketball players because it can slow you down and other myths. It’s quite the opposite, do you think that without weight lifting such basketball players like Shaq, Dwight Howard, Dwyane Wade or Lebron James can perform at the level they’re now? They spend offseason in the gym and have only one thought in their mind – to improve and reach new heights.
Weigh lifting for basketball can help you in many ways, you will jump higher and maybe dunk a basket ball (if you’re not now), you could push your opponent from the perimeter. If you’re in lack of height then being stronger you can compete with taller opponents (eg. Glen Davis vs. Shaq). So as you can see weight lifting has many benefits for your basketball game. Of course you shouldn’t train like Olympic weigh lifters, you need special weight lifting program for basketball.
In the video about Brandon Roy summer training workout I could catch a glimpse at his weight lifting program. You can see that he is doing 2 sets for every exercise for about 10 reps
This rep range is suitable for endurance, muscle size and strength at the same time. Power lifter are working in the very low rep ranges so unless you want to be a power lifter try to train in the 8-12 rep range zone.

How To Heal Sprained Ankle Fast

Somebody got into my way when rebounding a basketball and I sprained my left ankle, it was really disappointing because the moment I felt that sharp pain I realized I won’t play basketball for at least 1 week.
So I quickly limped home to apply some ice. I knew from earlier experience that you have to treat sprained ankle with RICE method (rest, ice, compress, elevate)
To minimize damage for your ankle in the first hours you must elevate it and cool with ice or slab of frozen meat like I did. Meat is really good cooling aid because it constantly releases cold and don’t get wet like ice cubes do. Read more

Matt Devlin Raptors Cheating His Height?
Posted on | October 4, 2010 | 1 Comment
If you look closely to the images taken from Raptors interview videos with Matt Devlin, Linas Kleiza and Jose Calderon you can think that those 3 guys are the same height. However, Linas Kleiza is 6″8 and Calderon is 6″3. So how come Matt Devlin looks only about 1 inch shorter

He must be using some lift shoes to increase his height.

Kevin Durant Real Height 6″11?
Posted on | September 20, 2010 | Comments Off
Looking at this picture can you say that Kevin Durant’s real height is only 6″9? Marc Gasol is a legit 7″1 so it should be 4 inches difference between the two (thus giving Durant a 6″11′ ). However from this picture it is clear that Kevin Durant is at most 2 inches smaller. Without heads those two players would be pretty much equal because Gasol has really large head which adds height. Having in mind that Durant has enormous length hands he is a walking 7″1 small forward. He will be a mismatch 99% of his career for other players. NBA should really have to update his height in official page because Durantulla grew taller.
